law of change

The Law of change

Posted on March 25, 2020October 22, 2020 by Kimaya Kolhe

Have you ever wondered why the external world can never give us non-stop happiness or success? The answer is: Law of Change.

The Law of Constant Change is a fundamental law of our life.

Look at the current scenario of the world. We had never imagined or predicted one month back that we would be sitting at home for an uncertain period. And that too in such panic situation. Isn’t it?

What is the law of change ?

The outside world is never constant – there is only one thing constant about the external world, and that is CHANGE.

The Law states that everything in our life changes at times. In fact, continuously altering and becoming something else.

Nothing remains exactly as it is. Nothing.

Movement and change account for the reality of our being.

Our friendships, our career possibilities, our life opportunities, our health, our children, our parents, our daily activities, our insights, all are forever changing and becoming something else.

For many, this is a frightening and daunting phenomenon, as most of us crave stability. But stability is an illusion.

And you and your circumstances will change whether you like it or not, whether you want them to or not.

They cannot and will never remain the same.

There are three main factors that are the causes of change in our life: choice, chance and crisis. All three carry power and have their own particular dynamic.

The change can be challenging, but turn challenges into opportunities.

My experience of ‘change’ :

The death of my father, 15 years ago, taught me a lot of things at a very early stage of my life. I was just 21.

It was completely unexpected and sudden, moreover unfair for me and my mom. Our life changed upside down.

I had gone through the most difficult phase then. But after a long period, we recovered from the loss of my father. After all, we had to move on in our life. Right ?

It was the first time, when I learned the law of change. You are just a watcher. Everything passes by. We are witnesses of all this. We ave to accept and embrace the change. And need to learn how to face the unknown in life.

Life comes and goes. Happiness comes and goes. Even sorrow comes and goes. Nothing lasts forever.

law of change in life

Let me share with you an ancient story.  It may help you to stay grounded no matter how well or how poorly things are going in your life.

The magic ring story

One day a King decided to humble his trusted advisor. King said to him, “I have heard that, there’s a certain ring that has magical power. I wish to wear it so I want you to bring it for me.  I give you six months to find it.”

Advisor replied, “Your Highness, if it exists anywhere on earth, I will find it and bring it to you. But what makes the ring so special?”

King answered,  “The ring I mentioned is very unique. If a happy man looks at it, he becomes sad, and if a sad man looks at it, he becomes happy.”

Advisor knew that no such ring existed, but he wished to give it a try, only for his master.

The months passed and the advisor still had no idea where he could find the ring.

One day he passed by a merchant who was rolling up the shabby carpet that contained his wares.

Advisor asked, “Have you by any chance heard of a magic ring that makes the happy person forget his joy and the sad person forget his sorrows?”

“Yes , I have,” replied the old man.

Advisor watched him take a plain wooden ring and engrave something on it. When he read the words on the ring, his face broke out in a wide grin.

He went to meet the king with excitement.

King asked, “Well, my dear friend, have you found that ring?”

All the ministers laughed and the advisor smiled too.

To everyone’s surprise, the advisor held up a small ring and declared, “Here it is, Your Majesty!”

As soon as the king read the line on that ring, his smile vanished from his face. He suddenly experienced what he had asked for.

The craftsman had written four words on the ring:

“This too shall pass.”

That’s it. These four words can make a happy man sad and a sad man happy.

This story is a reminder that good times don’t last forever, so it’s important to stay humble.

Bad times will soon fade as well, so we must stay positive and focused on the things that are within our control.

So, the next time you find yourself getting a bit too egoistic or a bit too arrogant for your success, remember: this too shall pass.

That’s an extension of the law of change.

Change is constant

  • Just like from a seed to a huge tree, a plant changes; from the lowest point of your life to the brightest side of life, your time changes.
  • And just like from a schoolboy to a man, a boy changes, from being a daughter to have a daughter, the girl changes

Everything has to change either today or tomorrow, surviving without a change is unimaginable. No soul exits which haven’t encountered a change.

Now evaluate your own life. This too will pass. Think of the moments of joy and victory in your life. Think of the moment of Sorrow and defeat. Are they permanent?

They all come and pass away. Life just passes away. There is nothing permanent in this world.

You have seen all the changes. You have survived all setbacks, all defeats and all sorrows. All have passed away.

If you have problems in the present, they too will pass away. Because nothing remains forever. Joy and sorrow are the two faces of the same coin.

You are just a witness of change. Experience it, understand it, and enjoy the present moment.

The world is full of changes. Some are barely noticeable while others can have a huge impact on your life.

And when things change for the worse, the right piece of wisdom can be a great comfort. The law of change or the phrase “this too shall pass,” has been helping people through tough times for centuries.

Saying it at the right moment can make all the difference for a troubled friend or a loved one dealing with loss.

Conclusion

In current weird situation, we all have to convince each other that the law of change exists. And this  too shall pass. Very soon.

“Change is constant” means that change is occurring continuously, while “change is a constant” means that change is an always-to-be-expected condition. The choice between the two terms thus depends on context and what you want to emphasize.

That’s been our motto in our company since then, that nothing is permanent in this world but CHANGE. We just need to go with the flow and accept things as they are. I am sure that every changes happens because of some reason.

Our lives are filled with changes. Some we want, some we do not want. But like everything that we come encounter with “this too shall pass.” I think it also has a lot to do with your attitude and how you handle situations. We will all make it through this.

I love this article. I think it has become too easy to be overwhelmed by a current situation, we often forget to look at the big picture and see that this is just a moment in time…and it too shall pass. If someone is need of help, don’t hesitate to ask…there are so many resources for people. All my best!

change happens everywhere and with everyone and happens constantly. In the galaxies of outer space, where our sun will burn out in a few hundred million years, change is happening. In the subatomic world, where particles are colliding with one another and morphing into something else in hundredths of a second, change is happening.
