My student sent me a short query on whatsapp, “Mam, when will my time come?” And without thinking much I replied, “So soon, your time will come”
Funny that !
But in response to this short answer she sent me a long train of smileys with red hearts in eyes.
I too replied with a smile, hoping that everything was fine on her side.
And she told me about the denial of her promotion due to the dirty politics in her office.
I understood her pain and told her to stay calm and keep working hard. And that her time will come soon.
When will my time come ?
After our chat, I was thinking that everyone asks this question at least once in his or her lifetime, literally everyone goes from this phase of life.
So usual and normal to anybody, where life seems too hard. Right ?
We come to a point in life where we feel darkness ahead. We don’t get any vision about our future as we feel so down and unlucky at the same time.
A single thought which keeps going on in our mind is that we are going nowhere. Isn’t it?
Everyone has a different clock
“He get placed in his last year of college, when will my time come”,
“She got the perfect partner at the age of 23, when will my time come”,
“He got 6 digit salary at his first promotion, when will my time come”,
“She get on-site opportunity right after 6months of working, when will my time come”,
“He is settled at the age of 30 with own home, good bank balance and 2 kids, when will my time come”
and there are many such questions we get to hear everywhere.
These dialogues and those who sound like these are the widely observed stereotypes of the globe.
People involve themselves in the most terrifying business of the world i.e COMPARISON hence forgetting that everyone has their own clock!
There is no contentment to be found by mapping our life with others.
You must be knowing few people who graduate at twenty-one but didn’t find a job till 25 years of their age
and on the other side there are few, who graduate late due to some circumstances but find work immediately. Isn’t it ?
There are people who work continuously 10 to 20 years but couldn’t even have a house of their own to live.
Some are those who are married but have to wait for children.
I know people who love each other for years but are not together yet and I know people who got married early but got divorced so single right now.
We may sometimes look at some of our friends and may think that they are ahead of us, maybe some of them we feel are behind; but the fact is, everything happens at their own pace.
So the point I want to make here is everything in our life is according to our time and our clock.
No two relationships, lives, or journeys are the same and what works for some will not work for others. Right ?
Your time will come !
Everyone has their own time to become someone, in right time and right opportunity.
Getting all of your goals at the very young age is still an achievement. But there is no written rule that success has to be achieved as early as possible.
Do not get influenced by anyone’s achievement. It is okay to be late than never.
As they have their own time and clock, so do you. Be Patient.
Don’t let anyone rush you with their timelines.
Just prepare yourself and be the best version of you. Don’t compare yourself to others, because you will not know when your time will come.
You know what, I have always wanted something so badly in my life, but it is not yet given to me. I hope that at the right time, it will come. I am still preparing and waiting for it.
Let me tell you one interesting story which can relate to this :
The baby elephant :
Once upon a time, an elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time.
Three months down the line, the dog gave birth to six cute little puppies and elephant was still pregnant.
Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen puppies.
The pattern continued . And elephant was still carrying the baby in her womb.
On the 18th month the dog approached the elephant questioning: “Are you sure that you are pregnant?”
Elephant just smiled and said, “Yes, of course !”
Dog continued to ask further “But we became pregnant on the same date. And look at me, I have given birth three times to a dozen puppies and they are now grown to become big dogs, yet you are still pregnant. What’s going on?”
Now the elephant’s reply is really interesting and answer to all your questions which mainly focus on “When will my time come ?”
The elephant replied in a calm voice, “Dear friend, let me tell you something I want you to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant. I only give birth to one in two years.
And when my baby hits the ground, the earth feels it. When my baby crosses the road, human beings stop and watch in admiration.
What I carry draws attention. So what I’m carrying is mighty and great.”
Wow ! Isn’t that a great and inspiring response.
So my dear friends, our time is like that baby elephant.
Don’t lose faith when you see others receive answers to their prayers. If you haven’t received your own blessings, don’t despair, your time will come.
Say to yourself, “My time is coming, and when it hits the surface of the earth, people shall yield in admiration.”
J.K Rowling and her story
I was surprised to know that the book was submitted to almost twelve publishing houses, all of which rejected the manuscript.
Can you imagine how she waited for ‘her time’ to come and kept struggling for her work to get published. And you know what happened next.
She is the lady who made us realize that we all have something worth struggling for. And she made us realize that happiness can be found in the darkest times too. Isn’t it ?
What do we learn from such personalities
Timeline is different for each one of us. Just because things don’t happen according to your expectations and wishes, it doesn’t mean it will never happen.
There will be challenges and hurdles in your way, but learn the art to turn the challenges to opportunities.
Trust me, opportunities never ceases to knock on your door. Life is about aiming at the right moment to ACT!
Though its 24 hours for the whole world, the pace and the ways those 24 hours are used, vary from one another. And our clocks are manufactured differently. Right ?
So, stay CALM and Act. Have some positive self talk. You’re not LATE and You’re not EARLY, You’re very much ON TIME, and in your TIME ZONE!
It’s so beautiful , you just have to close your eyes and listen to this song with your headphones.
It will definitely encourage you to keep going and wait for the correct time because I am sure your time will come soon.
I conclude my post with the lyrics by Amy Macdonalds,
So soon your time will come. Let it out while you’re still young.
May all your dreams come true for someone like you.
